Question 1

What is Selvy, and why is it called an OIMS instead of a POS?

Accepted Answer

S.E.L.V.Y. stands for Simplified Entry Logger for Volume & Yard Inventory. It is an internal order and inventory management system (OIMS) engineered specifically for retail, sari-sari, and agricultural feed stores. It operates strictly as an internal operational ledger and NOT a BIR POS machine or Computerized Accounting System (CAS).

Question 2

Will using Selvy get my store penalized during BIR Tax Mapping or Oplan Kandado?

Accepted Answer

No. Selvy protects your business from penalties imposed on unaccredited POS machines. Store owners continue issuing official paper Sales Invoices from BIR-authorized booklets for all tax purposes, while Selvy handles internal inventory math, tingi deductions, suki utang, and drawer cash reconciliation safely alongside your paper invoices.

Question 3

Do I need a BIR Permit to Use (PTU) or Machine Identification Number (MIN) sticker?

Accepted Answer

No. Under BIR regulations, only devices that issue fiscal customer sales invoices for tax deduction or maintain computerized accounting books (CAS) require BIR software accreditation, PTUs, or MIN hardware decals. Internal operational software, stock loggers, and queue dockets are exempt.

Question 4

Can I print thermal slips from Selvy for my customers?

Accepted Answer

Yes! You can connect standard 58mm or 80mm Bluetooth or USB thermal printers. Slips printed by Selvy serve as internal kitchen tickets, warehouse loading slips, or customer queue dockets with a mandatory statutory non-fiscal disclaimer.

Question 5

How does dual-unit tracking (Sacks & Loose Kilos) work?

Accepted Answer

Selvy allows you to maintain primary inventory in bulk units (like 50kg bags) while ringing up sales in fractional per-kilo quantities. When a cashier logs 3.5 kg of feed, Selvy automatically deducts 0.070 bags from total stock without rounding errors.

Question 6

Can Selvy operate during brownouts or when internet connection drops?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Selvy is engineered with offline-first local storage (browser IndexedDB). If power or internet drops, your counter keeps ringing up orders and scanning barcodes. Queued orders automatically sync to your cloud database once connection is restored.
